The influence of Italian families expands not only into show business but also politics. During WWII, many returned to Italy, but as American soldiers. In postwar Europe, bolstered by the Marshall Plan, Germany sees an influx of Italian workers as “Gastarbeiter” in various industries, which effectively contributes to what is known as the “Wirtschaftswunder”.
