For the days stuck in idyllic detachment, pelican avenue brings the proper summer wear and a changing room for the ash-lands. Items for an over-equipped beach life. How relevant is progress in this setting? – the tension of boredom yields to enjoyment of the heat, the isolation and complacency.

pelican avenue was founded in 2004 by Carolin Lerch, a graduate from the Antwerp academy of fashion and a former assistant to designer Bernhard Willhelm. She has taught as a visiting artist at the School of the Arts Institute of Chicago and currently works as a consultant for Peter Pilotto in London.
As pelican avenue, she looks for profound progress within fashion. The mistrust of consumption takes her work beyond the borders of the commercial and established. Subtle, extremely detailed and refined, she tries to give her clothing and environment a critical, conceptual dimension. She is taking an alternative look at predominant codes and the context in which her work is shown or worn.
pelican avenue is presenting on a regular base during Paris fashion week. The labels work has also been shown at fashion festivals like 080 Barcelona, the Fashion Festival in Vienna, Modebiennale Arnhem and group exhibitions like “Skyscraper” at Kate MacGarry Gallery, London, “Te kust en te keur”, Mu.ZEE Ostend and “Town Gown Conflict”, Kunsthalle Zurich.
